There are so many little ones that it would be great to have a "program" for them. Kathryn and I were talking tonight about starting a new den, the "Little Scout Buddies" this den would be open to any younger sibling of the pack. We envision using the Cafeteria to set up some activity tables like you would see at a preschool. Coloring, puzzles, simple games. They could also have a song time and a few games (duck duck goose, hokie pokie) Kathryn would be willing to help organize if a couple of other moms would volunteer also. They could be the "Little Scout Buddy Den Leaders" and maybe we could talk Natalie into being the "Little Scout Buddy Den Chief". I know that my den has five preschool aged Buddies, and I notice that there are also many other little ones running around during the meeting.
I think that this would:
1.) make the meetings more fun for the Little Cub Buddies
2.) allow the parents to focus on the Cub Scout achievements (rather than always keeping an eye out for their little one)
3.) cut down on the noise and chaos in the meeting.
Questions:
Is anybody interested in this?
Who is willing to volunteer to serve in this way?
Would the cafeteria be available and soundproof enough to let the little ones work there?
of course mom would be in the other room for those in need of a hug or whatever a little one needs.
BSA even sells a hat and shirt that I know some of the little ones would lovewww.scoutstuff.org/BSASupply/ItemDetail.aspx
pack meetings or Den meetings
This would be only for the Pack meetings.
