Articles on Scouting….through the eyes of the Thundercats
The reason I liked to being a Scout is because I got to go on camp outs, making new friends, and having lots of fun. The best time I had was when we went to the USS Midway in San Diego. It was a very long drive, but I was ready to go after my well-balanced meal at Mc Donald's. I was not very happy when I had to wait 45 minutes for everyone to meet us. If I would have known it was going to be so long, I would have scheduled a morning Starbuck's mocha to help with the wait. On the other hand, I would've had the need to use the "tinkletorium". I really liked the entrance to the Midway because it was gray like the sky; the rusty smell was nice too. I really liked the hangar section, there was a lot of stuff in there. My favorite thing in the hangar room was the thick plastic platform that had 4 stories under it, with a jet at the bottom, and 2 dummies. I got scared in the medical ward because there were 2 scary dummies operating on another dummy. The oxygen pump which was hooked onto the patient was moving, and over one hundred people died in that room. I liked the room with the anchor chains because they are really big.

My report on the USS Midway. On Tuesday, December, 30th Pack 134 went to visit the USS Midway aircraftcairier. It was in San Diego and some took a car to get there while others took a train. About 20 boys and there families went. It was the biggest ship I've ever been on. We first got headphones that would tell me about parts of the ship. Then we went on deck and saw allot of planes. Then we took a tour of the bridge where they controlled the ship. We went back on deck and were able to sit in a jet. A short break was taken for lunch. After lunch we went below deck and saw the kitchens, the brig, the machine shop, sick bay,the engine room, sleeping bunks, and the anchor room. In the anchor room they had a knot board with practice ropes, witch was fun. At the end of the day we went to the gift shop and bought souvenirs. It was fun to learn about the ship.

Dear future Webelos,
Every year, when you are a Webelos 2 you have a special ceremony called the blue and gold.. At that ceremony you cross over from a Cub Scout to a Boy Scout. It is a very important thing. I am on my way to becoming one. Boy Scouts are tougher than cub scouts because you have to work harder in earning enough merit badges to earn the next rank. I’m sure you’ve heard of eagle. If you haven’t it is the highest rank in all scouting. I hope you all make it to eagle.

I want to tell you about Webelos Weekend at Camp Tahquiiz. When my Dad and I went to camp, I needed to pitch a tent. While after pitching a tent we went to the bowl to do our skit Rock Climbing. Then after the skit I had dinner which was a pop tart and cookies. After dinner I heard people talking about who is staying with who and in who’s tent. When we got up I saw thunder and lightning, it was pretty hard to climb up hill to the cars since it was raining so hard. After It rained we had breakfast. Then I came up to after breakfast and told you ”Where going fishing!”When we got there with our gear we started to fish. I caught the first fish then my dad. Then dad, then me, then dad, then me, then me, then dad, then me, making it Josh 5 to Dad 4. After fishing it started raining again, so we packed up our gear and headed down the hill. Then we stopped at A & W Rootbeer Restaurant it was so good, then we headed home.

LASER TAG
By: S M
The gear for laser tag is very heavy and holds your gun so you don’t have to hold it for a long time. It is also fun to shoot other people because it’s a sence of excitement in the game. It is not fun to be hit by other kids because then you get 5 seconds out of the game and then start playing. There are about 2 rounds in the whole game and it is always good to be in the game because I feel excited all over. You will feel better playing laser tag rather than watching it.
